Who can attend?
- Anyone who is interested in research in the area of women’s health; anyone who is interested in clinical practice focusing on women’s and infants’ health; students, residents, clinicians, researchers.
Guidelines for presentation
- The purpose of the WIHRIP Rounds is to provide investigators with an opportunity to present to peers their research ideas, and to get constructive feedback while the research is in the developmental stages. We anticipate that presentations will be made at either quite an early stage in the development of the research idea, or alternatively, when the idea has been more formalized and a protocol is developed. We encourage presentations early in the process of development, and again once a full protocol has been developed, but we are happy to hear about projects at any stage of development.
- For projects in early stages: we would like presentations at early stages of development to be limited to 3 - 5 pp slides, and a brief presentation focusing on the project. The first slide after the title slide should be the Research Question(s) in the PICOTS format so that the audience is oriented to the direction of the background section. All studies should include information about the population, comparison group, and the outcome (PCO) as well as slides on the analysis plan and limitations. Intervention studies should also include a slide detailing the intervention (PICO) and observational studies should have a slide detailing the exposure instead. T stands for time frame and S stands for Study Design:
- If this is an observational study please include a list of confounding variables on which you will need to collect information.
- Please include slides showing your “dummy data tables”. The 1st table should be a baseline characteristics table including confounding variables.
- The 2nd table should be how you plan to present the results.
- The presentation of the project will be followed by discussion of the project with suggestions from the whole group on ways to strengthen the project.
- For projects that are further along in the protocol development stage
For projects that are still further along in the analysis stage: we would like presentation to be limited to 15 slides, and 15 minutes presentation, to allow for discussion of the project
